Therefore the goal of GEF is to bring alumni, parents and businesses together to create opportunities that support continuing excellence in the Geneseo School District.
These goals are to:
Enrich student’s educational experiences
Strengthen school programs in order to make our district special
Allow us to fund teachers’ projects outside the district’s budget

In 1987, the seed for GEEE was planted when several Geneseo School District board members attending the annual school board convention were introduced to the concept of a local educational foundation. After the discussion at the board’s retreats in 1988 and 1989, plans were set in motion to form a foundation.
A steering committee began drafting bylaws and laying the groundwork for what would become known as the Geneseo Endowment for Excellence in Education A board of directors was selected from the steering committee, and the first meeting was held August 16, 1991. After months of thoughtful planning a public fund drive was launched on November 16th, 1991, with a kick-off breakfast at The Deck. A direct mail brochure was mailed to all residents in District #228 explaining the purpose and goals of the endowment. GEEE was formed to provide a means for all citizens to contribute to the continuation and expansion of quality educational opportunities in School District #228.
In 2015, in order to make the name user friendly, the Board of Directors chose to simplify the name to the Geneseo Education Foundation.
